Sponder Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in the 2017 Seattle Art Fair with a solo presentation of kinetic sculpture by Anne Lilly.
Lilly uses carefully engineered motion to shift and manipulate our perceptions of time, space and energy. Her ordered and precisely constructed interactive sculptures move in strikingly organic, fluid and mesmeric ways. In 2014, Anne Lilly was visiting artist at MIT, in 2012 artist-in-residence at the Art Institute of Boston, and in 2011 she received the Blanche E. Colman Grant. In 2013, Anne Lilly was honored with the Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation Grant Award for Lifetime Achievement. She has created pieces for a year-long exhibition of kinetic art at the MIT Museum, the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA, the City of Boston's ParkArts program, and the Fort Point Public Arts Series. Her work has been collected by the DeCordova Museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Middlebury College Museum of Art, and is held in international corporate and private collections.
