BIOGRAPHY

Formento + Formento Biography

Formento & Formento are a husband-and-wife photographic duo known for creating staged photographs made entirely without A.I. Every image is produced on location with real models, practical effects, and carefully constructed concepts. Richeille Formento serves as creative director, conceiving each tableau and overseeing styling, wardrobe, hair, and makeup. BJ Formento shapes the light, composes the frame, and together they photograph the scene.

Working from their Airstream studio on wheels, they travel in search of stories embedded in the American landscape. Their photographs are infused with imagination, technical mastery, and an uncanny ability to absorb and render the spirit of a particular time and place, transforming lived experience into artistic cinematic images.
Over the past two decades, they have photographed places, people, and roadside landmarks that have since vanished or been irrevocably altered. Their work functions not only as a cinematic reimagining of America, but also as a visual record of disappearing landscapes and enduring icons—preserving fragments of a
nation in transition and documenting the poetry of an America that continues to fade from view.
