PRESS RELEASE
Bill Barrett: Paintings & Sculpture
Jan 12 – Feb 4, 2012
BOCA RATON, FL (November 2, 2011) – Elaine Baker Gallery announces the upcoming exhibition of paintings and sculpture by Bill Barrett. The exhibition opens on Thursday, January 12th and continues until February 4th, 2012.
Inspired by dance and its’ lyrical movement, Bill Barrett captures the expressive freedom of drawing in his impeccably fabricated bronze sculptures. The resulting works employ balance and tension with organic shapes and fluid lines. A striking attribute about his sculpture is the upward, flowering quality of the composition, enticing the eye to linger, discover and marvel.
Bill Barrett is a prominent member of the second generation of American metal sculptors, whose work is in the public collections including Grounds for Sculpture, NJ, Runnymede Sculpture Farm in San Francisco and the Santa Fe Museum of Art. His sculpture shares a personal and passionate conversation with space and shapes which have developed over five decades.
For the past two decades Elaine Baker Gallery has been synonymous with contemporary art, and is a respected resource for international collectors, museums, designers and corporations. The gallery offers works by established and mid-career artists, while maintaining an inventory of strong secondary market work. In January 2010, Elaine Baker and her daughter Deborah Sponder opened a second space at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. This new partnership houses a major sculpture program and is dedicated to presenting museum quality sculpture for acquisition.
